The Tale of Sir Cutter McMain

Greetings and well met me Mateys! I’m Mako Mike the bartender here at the Rusty Scupper. I shall tell ye now Of the Tale of Sir Cutter McMain and where e came from and how e arrived at the shores of the Realms lands.

        Cutter was born in Cutthroat city in the Highlands of Corsica near the Eastern Bluffs. 'Is Father twas Antone “Hardtack” McMain 'is mom twas Virginia McMain. Hardtack twas the ships cook aboard the ship “Hunter”. 'E served 'or 13 voyages before buying a pub and eatery in Cutthroat city. Thats where e met Virginia. They were married by 'is old capn and two years later Cutter was born.

        Cutter twas raised by 'is old man to be a member of the Sea Glenn Cartell which 'is dad had helped start Years before. Cutter twas trained in Seamanship and Fencing from age 6. 'E served 'is first voyage at age 13 aboard the ship “Slasher”.'E went to Navigators school at age 16 and became Navigator on the Flagship of The Sea Glenn Cartell “The Tempest”. Aye e served well and twas given a letter of marque from the captain. This allowed young Cutter to get a position on just about any vessel 'e chose.

        When Cutter turned 20 'e captained 'is first vessel. The barque “Nova”. This would prove to be a defining moment in 'is career.

Part II

        Aboard the Nova the captain twas a Barbarian named Axe.Captain Axe twas a hard but fair captain. E' took an immediate liking to young Cutter and started to show im the finer arts of captaining. Axe also showed Cutter some of 'is other skills on their voyages as well. Theif skills, running, tracking,wilderness survival were among the skills that cutter learned.

         Cutter was also to meet another Pirate Captain who would greatly influence 'is career and 'is life, "Barbarosa". Capt. Barbarosa was ruthless and cunning. He was known for giving no quarter to 'is adversaries. E' also had plundered a great deal of booty for his Cartell. Cutter knew that this Capt. was one to watch and never turn 'is back on.

          It was also during this time that Cutter saw Tang-Hua for the first time. The Nova was known for sinking at least three Tang-Hua vessels. Corsica and Tang-Hua had been in a trade war for over 10 years. Capt. Axe knew there would be a time when the two great powers would finally sign a pact, but not this voyage. Capt.Axe had friends in Tang-Hua but kept that between 'im and Cutter.

          Cutter Piloted the ship into the dangerous Straights off Tang-Hua and twas able to outsail the larger Tang-Hua vessel which ran afoul of some reefs. Aye twas a big haul! When they returned to Corsica Cutter was honored by the head of the Cartell and given 'is first ship "The Darksail".
